School Director

Common Threads is a non-profit offering innovative educational opportunities for autistic and neurodivergent students. Our school program offers alternative placement for students in the greater Madison area who require intensive supports and a smaller learning environment to develop critical skills for successful participation across school settings.

As School Director, you will lead our school program in delivering transdisciplinary educational services with therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of our students. This involves staffing, program development, training, and strategic evolution. You will partner with caregivers, team members, school districts, and students to ensure effective and meaningful education opportunities are provided to each student.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • License in Special Education is required.
  • Specialized training and experience working with autism and neurodivergence required.
  • Knowledge of IEP creation and implementation required.
  • Three years of experience working in a special education classroom environment required.
  • Effective leadership skills to manage a staff of 7-10 employees.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships with a wide variety of organizations/institutions.
  • Ability to handle, work with, and maintain confidential and sensitive information required.
  • Effective written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills required.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills to effectively perform work.
  • Valid current driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • Must pass a background check.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position.
