Dr. Wright – Director of School Services

Rachel E. Wright, Ph.D. is the Director of School Services at Common Threads Family Resource Center.  She has served individuals of all ages with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID) for more than 12 years including: filling various roles, from teaching assistant to lead teacher, to consultant for multiple school districts in the East Tennessee Area, to teaching courses on Digital Literacy and Independent Living Skills for The University of Tennessee’s Postsecondary Education, as well as serving as an ASD Specialist for a Regional Education Service District in Yamhill County, Oregon.

Dr. Wright focused much of her Doctoral work at The University of Tennessee on using Augmented Reality and other emerging technologies as supports to increase independence in daily routines, improve situational outcomes in employment settings, and the overall quality of life for students with ASD and ID who are transitioning into adulthood.  She has established herself as among the leading experts through her publications regarding the applications of wearable and augmented reality technologies in the United States and presenting on both the national and international levels.
